January 2009: Feature article interviews completed for articles to appear in the Houston Community Newpapers Examiner and the University of St. Thomas Alumni Shining Star magazine about my work overseas with American Voices.
February 2009: Keynote Speaker for Career Day at my alma mater, Incarnate Word Academy, speaking on my career as a musical theatre professional here and abroad.
March 2009: John Ferguson in Houston from his home base in Bangkok to meet about future projects and host casual get-togethers as meet-and-greet fund raisers.
April 2009: Served as MC for an evening of art and music at the Winter Street Gallery, featuring violin students from our American Voices Iraq Unity Academy studying for a year with the St. Louis Symphony on a student exchange program worked out by John Ferguson and Mark Thayer. Artist and AmVo supporter Rania Daniel exhibits her amazing work.
March and April 2009: choreographed Be Our Guest and Gaston for St. Michael Catholic School Spring Musical, showing April 30 and May 1.
May 2009: My brother, Father Jack Hanna CSB, and I are honored at the University of St. Thomas Baccalaureate Ceremony as UST Alumni of the Year for 2009, celebrating our lives of dedication and commitment to mentoring students and serving our community.
June 2009: I’ll be teaching free-lance camps here in Houston – stay tuned!
July and August 2009: returning for a third Unity Academy and Concert in Erbil, Northern Iraq. From there, it’s on to Beirut, Lebanon. Then, if all works out, we’ll zip on over to Taiwan for our 4th year there. And at some point, summer camp in Tokyo. Whew, that’s some summer!
